I think the best decision I made in high school was to join the Civil Air Patrol. I’ve been a member of CAP for about a year and half, and the only thing I regret about it, is that I didn’t join earlier. CAP has taught me how to be a better person and a better leader. The program also convinced me that I wanted to pursue a career in the US Air Force. If you’re between the ages of 12 and 18, I would highly recommend this organization. Go to the website linked above, and find a squadron near you to visit. You won’t regret it - I promise.

On one of the trips (I talked about it earlier) I got to go on with CAP, we went down to Eglin Air Force Base in Pensacola Florida, and got to tour a V-22 Osprey. I’m telling you, this is one cool aircraft. I was very impressed with the level of technology present in this plane. Everything is state-of-the-art, and looks really nice. I wouldn’t mind flying one of these someday if they get the kinks worked out.

DG Flugzeugbau DG 808

I know this post is a little over-due, but I’m still trying to figure out how to manage my time here at school. Transitioning from being a home-schooled high school student to a college student is proving to be more difficult than I had anticipated!

Today’s aircraft is the DG 808 glider. I’m telling you, if you ever get the chance to fly in a glider, DO IT! It’s the most amazing experience I have ever had! You really do feel like an eagle soaring on the wind!

AH-64 Apache Longbow

One day at Civil Air Patrol encampment in South Carolina this year, we had all the cadets outside doing team building exercises when one of these started flying around. We were on an Army base, so we see a lot of active-duty personnel and equipment, but this Apache was flying at 500 feet, and just kept circling around. We had to keep telling the cadets to focus on what they were doing, and to stop staring up at the Apache. We were watching it when the cadets weren’t looking though!

Today’s another busy day. I’m on break right now from Air Force ROTC orientation.

Here’s the F-22 Raptor. If you have the time go look for videos of this thing flying… it’s amazing! This jet does stuff that no airplane should ever be able to do!

Proteus

I know, I know… I didn’t post anything yesterday. I was moving into my dorm at school and didn’t have the time.
