One of the most famous light aircraft of all time is the Piper J-3 Cub. Produced between 1937 and 1947, the J-3 was sold for just over $1,000 each. Over 19,000 were produced and they remain a very popular aircraft even today. The Cub also played a vital role in training new military pilots during WWII. By the time the war was over, 80 percent of all US military pilots had received their initial flight training in a J-3.
