Boeing designed the 757 as an economical replacement for the 767 on less-traveled routes. The airlines would save money using a smaller plane that was full, over a bigger jet that had empty seats. The 757 has the same diameter fuselage as the 707, 727, and 737.

This is one of my favorite classic airplanes. I’ve gotten to spend some time around these at air shows and they really are beautiful machines! I’ve never gotten to fly in one, but I’ve been told the experience is unforgettable!
